New Factsheet: SNAP Outreach in Schools 

Our new SNAP Outreach in Schools Factsheet, developed in partnership with NYS PTA, and No Kid Hungry, highlights the benefits of communicating to families about SNAP and provides practical next steps for schools to conduct outreach. Share this one-pager with schools to highlight the benefits of SNAP outreach, share free outreach resources, and outline best practices.

 

New Outreach Toolkit: Help Promote the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

Our new CACFP Outreach Toolkit is available to help partners and sponsors promote CACFP to early-care and school-aged child care programs in your community. This new resource includes social media graphics and captions, sample communications language, and more.

Partnership Update: "Strengthening Food Access for Students Through Our Partnership with New York State PTA"

Hunger Solutions New York is proud to partner with the New York State PTA to help ensure students across New York have access to the food they need to learn, grow, and thrive. Following our shared success in securing universal free school meals in New York, we are excited to announce our latest partnership to expand SNAP outreach in schools.

SNAP + Universal Free School Meals: Make Outreach Work for Your School 

This webinar outlined New York’s new SNAP outreach requirement for schools under the Universal Free School Meals Program. It also featured a short Q&A with Director of Food and Nutrition Services, Lisa Ostrowski of North Colonie Central School District, along with best practices and resources for schools to meet this new requirement.

Gearing up for Summer Nutrition in 2026: A Series of Webinar Recordings 

For support with summer meals basics and best practices, check out the recordings of our recent Summer Nutrition webinars below:   

"Sponsoring Summer Meals": This 25-minute webinar provides information about providing meals through the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) in New York State. Learn about program basics and best practices, including an overview of the rural non-congregate flexibility and how to cross-promote summer meals and Summer EBT.  

"Serving Rural Non-Congregate Meals": This 15-minute webinar, co-hosted with No Kid Hungry New York, highlights how to effectively plan and operate rural non-congregate summer meals through SFSP. Tune in to hear an overview of the rural non-congregate option, learn about key requirements for sponsors, and promising practices from the field. 

"A Collaborative Approach to Summer Nutrition": This webinar convened collaborative leaders from across New York State to discuss their work on summer nutrition programs. Panelists discussed different collaborative models, best practices, and lessons learned. 

As a reminder, the application deadline for new summer meals sponsors is May 1, and sponsor renewals are due June 1. More information is available on the New York State Education Department's Summer Food Service Program webpage.

COMING SOON: Our new National School Breakfast Week Social Media Toolkit, created in partnership with No Kid Hungry New York, will provide social media graphics and sample captions to promote the availability of free school breakfast to students and families. Schools and partners can use this toolkit during NSBW and throughout the year! Available in English and Spanish. Hunger Solutions New York will share this resource with our networks when available. Stay tuned!
