Community organizations and service providers throughout the state rely on our print Prescreening Guide to help them understand SNAP policy, determine if a household may qualify for SNAP, estimate monthly benefit amounts, and assist with the application and recertification process. Now this invaluable resource is available in an interactive, user-friendly format accessible on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. |

The goal of this guide is to give you easy access to SNAP rules and policies in New York State. It includes sections dedicated to eligibility rules, programs that help seniors and people with disabilities access SNAP, budgeting and estimating benefits, the application process, maintaining and recertifying for benefits, how to use SNAP, and benefits during disasters and misfortunes. Also included in this guide is a revised budgeting section that corresponds with a new SNAP benefits estimator, eliminating the need for manual calculations on a paper worksheet. With just a few clicks, you can input an applicant's household information, income, and deductions and instantly calculate an estimated SNAP benefit. The online guide will not replace the print guide. Hunger Solutions New York will continue to update both versions of the SNAP Prescreening Guide, continuing our commitment to provide easy-to-use tools and resources to help New Yorkers access SNAP.
